The short version

ClipCover turns your video clips into cover images. To do that we process your clips, but we keep as little as possible: uploaded and fetched videos are deleted from our processing servers shortly after your covers are generated, typically within the hour. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and if you connect Instagram, your access token stays in your own browser rather than in our database.

Who we are

ClipCover (clipcover.ai) is operated from Chicago, Illinois, USA. For anything in this policy, reach us through the support page or at matt@visibilitybuddy.com.

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account we store your email address, your name if you provide one, and your plan status. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never visible to us.

Content you process

When you upload a clip or paste a link, the video is sent to our processing servers to generate covers. This content is transient: the video and the working files are deleted shortly after the job finishes. Generated covers are delivered to your browser for you to download. We do not keep a long-term library of your videos.

Brand kits and fonts

If you save a brand kit (colors, fonts, a logo) or upload a font, we store it in your account so it is there next time. This data is scoped to your account and only you can access it. You can delete any kit or font from the app at any time.

Billing

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers. We store your plan status and Stripe's reference IDs so your subscription works.

Support messages

If you contact us through the support form or live chat, we receive what you send (name, email, message) so we can reply.

Technical data

Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (IP address, browser type, request times) for security and reliability. We use privacy-friendly page analytics (Vercel Analytics) and the Meta Pixel, which helps us measure whether our own ads on Meta platforms lead to signups and purchases; Meta may set cookies for that purpose. We never sell browsing data, and you can block the pixel with any standard content blocker without affecting how ClipCover works.

If you connect Instagram

Connecting Instagram is optional. It exists so you can pick a reel directly instead of pasting a link. When you connect, we use the official Instagram API with the read-only permission instagram_business_basic. Here is exactly what happens:

  • What we access: your Instagram username and your recent media list (thumbnails, captions, and the video file of a reel you select for cover generation).
  • Where your token lives: in a secure, httpOnly cookie in your own browser. We do not store Instagram access tokens in our database.
  • What we do with a selected reel: download it, generate covers, then delete it from our servers like any other clip.
  • What we never do: post to your account, send messages, read your followers, or access anything beyond the media list above.

To disconnect, use the steps in the data deletion section below. Disconnecting removes our access immediately.

How we use AI providers

Cover generation uses AI. Frames and short transcript excerpts from your clip are sent to Google (Gemini API) to choose the best moment and write cover text, and premium image enhancement runs your cover's frame through an image upscaling model hosted by Replicate. These providers process the data solely to deliver the feature, and under their API terms, data sent through these business APIs is not used to train their models.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers that run ClipCover, and only what each one needs: Supabase (accounts and saved brand data), Vercel (web hosting), Fly.io (video processing), Stripe (payments), Google and Replicate (AI processing described above), Resend (support form email), and Crisp (live chat). We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We never sell personal data.

How long we keep things

  • Videos and working files: deleted shortly after processing, typically within the hour.
  • Account, brand kits, fonts, plan status: kept while your account exists.
  • Instagram token: lives in your browser cookie and expires on its own within about 55 days unless you reconnect or disconnect sooner.
  • Support messages: kept as long as needed to handle your request.

Data deletion

Delete your account and data: send a request from the support page or email matt@visibilitybuddy.comfrom your account email with the subject "Delete my account". We will delete your account, brand kits, uploaded fonts, and stored preferences within 30 days and confirm by email. Your processed videos are already gone, they are deleted shortly after each job.

Disconnect Instagram: open Instagram's Apps and Websites settings and remove ClipCover, then clear the clipcover.ai cookies in your browser (or simply wait for the cookie to expire). Because we do not store Instagram tokens or media server-side, removing the app revokes everything.

Security

All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Saved brand data is protected by per-account access rules at the database level. Internal service-to-service requests are signed and short-lived. No system is perfectly secure, but we design so that a breach would expose as little as possible, which is also why we avoid storing your videos and tokens in the first place.

Children

ClipCover is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, note it in the product. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
